Migração e “sonho americano”: mães transnacionais brasileiras indocumentadas do leste de Minas Gerais nos Estados Unidos

Este artigo investiga o “sonho americano” de mães brasileiras indocumentadas do leste de Minas Gerais que exercem a maternidade transnacional nos Estados Unidos. A partir de uma abordagem qualitativa baseada em 15 entrevistas semiestruturadas (2020), analisam-se trajetórias migratórias, motivações e desafios relacionados ao gênero e à (in)documentação. Os resultados mostram que o significado do “sonho americano” varia conforme a situação pessoal, mas geralmente está associado à melhoria da qualidade de vida dos filhos e à conquista de bens materiais. Apesar de alcançarem certa estabilidade econômica, muitas enfrentam precariedade laboral, isolamento afetivo e dificuldades de acesso a direitos básicos, o que transforma o sonho em uma experiência ambivalente.
