“There’s no streaming of @conicetmdp today, I don’t know what I’m going to do when I get home” reflects a user on Instagram. It refers to the scientific exploration and live streaming on the Argentine seabed by CONICET and Grupo Gempa during July and August 2025, involving more than 70,000 online viewers per broadcast. In this paper we reflect on the implications of this unprecedented experience, the place of open science, and the challenges of new virtual scenarios for knowledge construction: how do virtual platforms incorporated into the scientific process generate massive communicational expansions? What are the political implications of this event under the new paradigm of open science?
