Abstract

This text is a first approach to the affects of trans women in Guatemala as articulators of social and political agency. The article is constructed from a review of interviews and life stories of Stacy and Adriana, activists and defenders of trans women's rights in Guatemala, in dialogue with some theoretical reflections from a feminist perspective on the affective turn. Affections, emotions and feelings, experienced and narrated, are epistemic resources through which oppressions and violence are made visible, as well as the capacity to subvert the affective normativity imposed by the dominant cisheteropatriarchal order, which conditions dissident identities by claiming happiness as a political horizon for the affirmation of the self.
