Abstract

This article contributes to the understanding of the emerging theoretical field of critical utopia. By presenting the state of the art of utopia as a concept of social theory in intersection of climate change research in light of the social science field, this systematic work seeks to consolidate theoretical concepts and methodological approaches under construction. The methodology used was bibliometric through the Web of Science and BNU with VosViewer. In the first part, there is a brief synthesis of utopia within the framework of contemporary critical social theory. The second part presents an analysis of the field with theorists: El-Ojeili, Elliott, Jameson, Levitas and Urry. In the third one, the emphasis is on the main concepts such as critical utopia. The final considerations point out some post-humanist critique and potentialities.
